Getting to Sintra and getting around

FLYING IN

Lisbon airport is the closest, about 40 minutes from Sintra by car. Flights from most UK and European cities take under three hours.

FROM LISBON

Trains to Sintra leave Rossio station every 20 minutes and take about 40 minutes. A taxi from the airport costs roughly 45 euros.

ON THE DAY

Coaches leave from the square outside the Sintra train station at 2pm and bring everyone back at 1am. You will not need a car.

WHILE YOU ARE HERE

Sintra is full of palaces and gardens, and the town gets busy by mid-morning. Go early, wear comfortable shoes and save a day for the beaches at Praia Grande.
